I am new to Toad and want to load data from an excel file to a database table in Oracle. Can anyone suggest me the way how to do it? I am using Oracle 11 and the excel file has 3 columns as compared to 5 columns in the destination table. I want to generate sequential nos also for the table.

Thanks in advance.

Automate loading of data from Excel spreadsheets into database
http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:243814703172

Install Oracle client software on Windows system running Excel.
Then connect Excel to Oracle DB via ODBC protocol & issue SQL directly from Excel against the DB

From my point of view: TOAD is a wrong tool for what you are doing. The fact that it offers loading values from Excel files doesn't mean that you can't use other options (SQL*Loader being the most obvious and reliable).

As of your question: use the wizard! Read all it says and do as it tells you. As far as I can tell, it will load those values, but I'm not sure it is capable of creating sequential values (and don't have TOAD here to test it).

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. But, one thing I would like to know if I can generate auto numbers for the excel sheet.

Thanks again.
